STCW Basic Safety Training (BST)
Safety at sea begins with competence, awareness, and preparedness. The STCW Basic Safety Training (BST) program is a mandatory international certification designed to equip seafarers with essential survival, fire-fighting, first aid, and personal safety skills required for service onboard vessels.
At the International Institute for Certified Maritime Crew (IICMC), this program is delivered in alignment with STCW Convention requirements, combining classroom instruction with practical demonstrations and drills. Trainees gain the confidence and competence needed to respond effectively to emergencies, protect life at sea, and operate responsibly within a shipboard safety culture.
